H2TR TF
Hydrogen Trade Rules Task Force
Description
-
For hydrogen to be a practical solution in the energy transition, it must be available in sufficient volumes, at an acceptable cost, and with low or zero carbon emissions associated with its production and distribution. Achieving this will require hydrogen to be transported and traded internationally.
-
The Task Force aim is to examines the potential for future international hydrogen trade and identifies potential barriers, hurdles, and considerations to explore now to ensure appropriate future trading conditions, and to better understand the current trade rules and regulation across IPHE member countries including multi-lateral trading agreements, to understand the ‘playing field’.
-
The Task Force has already developed a report adressing the point above and keeps working on understanding of the statu-quo in terms of development of trade policies along the hydrogen and derivatives supply chain including critical equipments. This leads to a growing engagement with external international organisations such as the World Trade Organisation or International Hydrogen Trade Platform.
-
The Task Force is led by the Netherlands and counts about 80 individuals from 25 countries.
